Our founding partners, Richard Norton and Chris Smailes established Norton & Smailes in 1994. From their extensive experience in larger firms, they were able to identify a market niche in the provision of specialist tax, superannuation and succession planning legal services. Daniel Fry joined the partnership in 2006 and Craig McKie in 2008.

Since our inception, we have continued to grow and have become the largest specialist tax team in Perth. Our four Partners, along with Senior Associates Johanne Thomas, Rachael Munro and Alan Krawitz and several solicitors practice in our specialist areas ranging from indirect and direct taxes, superannuation, all elements of estate and business succession planning, including related commercial and revenue litigation areas. In 2004, we were named  top tax lawyers in Perth by the Western Australian Business News.
